Thank you Bridgetown! Your response to the launch of the Bridgetown Star has been overwhelming.

Since we kicked off this brand-new venture on Monday July 6 over 2,300 of you have logged on to take a look at what’s happening in your community, with more than 17,000 page views. Phew!

That sort of response in a population of 4000-odd proves that while traditional country newspapers might be dying, there’s certainly no lack of hunger for local news, is there?

It’s been a lot of work but Jarad and I have greatly enjoyed bringing the Bridgetown Star to you. We intend to keep bringing you all the news that’s fit to print in a lively and topical style while updating it regularly to keep it fresh and vibrant. Now you don’t get that with traditional newspapers!

But to keep bringing you the news we really need the support of Bridgetown businesses. If you own a business in Bridgetown then we reckon there’s no better advertising medium in town than the Bridgetown Star.

Think about it – what other local newspaper is going to put your business in front of thousands of your customers’ eyes each-and-every week?

That’s got to be good for your business and good for your town too, because you’ll be supporting a small independent news source that’s going in to bat for Bridgetown people.

We want the Bridgetown Star to be an authentic voice of Bridgetown people, so here’s a shout-out to any writers out there who’d like to contribute. Please get in touch because I’d love to hear from you.

And if there’s something your community needs to know about, whether it’s an event that’s coming up, sport, or something that’s really bugging you then please let me know about it.

Talking about local sport, there’s not a lot of it about in this crazy COVID world is there? Look, if you have ANY sort of sporting contest on at the moment, get in touch. I’ll draw the line at competitive eating and drinking competitions, but hey, pretty well anything else is worth covering at the moment.
