Helping hands volunteers enjoying a well-earned cuppa.

Helping Hands Bushcare volunteers were out braving the rain on June 18 doing the hard yards to revegetate the area bounded by Walter and Layman streets adjacent to the river in Bridgetown.

We caught them enjoying a well-earned cuppa after removing the tree guards protecting the local plant species from rabbits.

“Rabbits are a big problem but luckily there’s not too many of them here,” said Landcare officer, Cheryl Hamence, who was leading the group.

The group has been revegetating the area since 2015, while the Helping Hands Bushcare group has been caring for the local environment since 2005.
